BarDIMM Box is a miniature hardware appliance attached behind the printer. The application communicates directly to the printer IP address on port 9100 as the BarDIMM Box is transparent but enriches the pages with barcodes.

Barcode generation requires PCL5 control commands in the print flow, those are already built in SAP and are easy to add to custom applications using the PCL5 printer language to describe documents.
